The world of fashion is dynamic and very competitive. Fashion design as a course, is the art of applying design, aesthetics, clothing, construction and natural beauty to clothing. At the Nyamwange Technical Training Centre, the fashion and design department lay out proven skills to help trainees to break into the fashion and design industry. As white -collar jobs are growing scarce in the world, one in fashion and design can have knowledge and become self -employed. Also graduates from this section are employed in various textile industries in the country and outside the country.
At the Nyamwange Technical Training Centre, the department has qualified staff with both pedagogical, industrial and entrepreneurial skills. Amongst the courses offered in this department incudes; Diploma in fashion and design, certificate in fashion design and garment making, (all examined by KNEC) and levels 3,2 &1 certificates (all examined by NITA TRADE TEST) All these courses are offered on both part-time and full -time basis depending on the flexibility of the learners. For one to apply for any course in this department, he/she must have the following qualifications:
1. A mean grade of a C-(Minus) and above for a Diploma course
2. A mean grade of a D (Plain) in K.C.S.E for a Certificate course
3. A mean grade of a D- (minus) or a K.C.P.E Certificate for Artisan or NITA course.
